Hi just thought I’d give a bit of my experience in migrating over to UC from ESA.

I received a letter early January 2025 to apply for UC by April the 1st.

I was really stressing about this and at first was going to delay applying for as long as possible. Having understood that because I do not get Sdp I probably would be better off applying straight away. I completed the application online and it was pretty straightforward. I only had a passport as i.d and had the option to also answer questions about credit cards and mobile phones.

I did look at my credit report a little while ago in preparation for this because my memory is appalling, this did in fact come in handy as when I was asked when I took out or renewed a phone contract I already had the information at hand.

I also had to sign the commitment with a click online. Everything was accepted was informed that I should get a statement in March about how much I will be paid hopefully.

I just wanted to say that it’s not as bad as I was expecting and I’m not sure if I will be contacted by the job centre yet but honestly at the moment I am too sad about my cat that just died. He was 14 and nothing feels the same 🥲

I'm glad to hear your experience with migration wasn't too stressful so far @cookie80, thanks for sharing how it all went for you.

And I'm really sorry for your loss too. Losing a beloved pet can be such a horrible experience but I'm sure you gave him the best life. Thinking of you 💜

Awww @cookie80, I feel for you. I used to work in a no kill cat shelter, 16years. I'd so many favourites. Though all my dogs were good with cats, heck I got my late girl from our shelter even though we were not meant to bring in other species we very much did.(Dogs, rabbits, ferrets) And got them all homes,I never took a cat home as I live near a busy Rd,I'd be too afraid. My mum did though.anyway you are in my thoughts. You really didn't need this loss on top of the whole UC thing. I'd an esa review as I was losing one of my dogs four yrs ago. My heart was and is still broken. It has been since I lost my own first doggo over 40 yrs ago. Not including family dogs who went before. Bless them. I'm glad thought the UC thing went OK. Be kind to yourself. X
