Hi, my name is nickrubytedsam! Awarded LCWRA but only backdated to May 2024, any advice?

I was awarded lcwra last week but was only backdated to may 2024! That was when I added another health condition to my conditions on my journal! I had already been handing in fit notes for years due to bpd anxiety and depression! I was awarded lcwra due to all my conditions but was only backdated to the one I reported January 2024! I didn't change my conditions I added one! If I hadn't of added that one I would have been backdated to jan 2022?Just doesn't seem fair, what are my options please help! I have also been handing in fit notes from 2010 with the only break being sent to prison due to my bpd!

hi and welcome to the forum unfortunately I can't give you that advice because I'm not an expert on it. All I can recommend is to ring the DWP or mention it when you are next at the job centre.

while you wait why don't you have a look at the coffee lounge for a distraction technique or the games room for some fun.

Was this from a first time WCA, or did you previously have LCW?

What were your prison dates?

this was first time, I’ve been on uc for years but I was just accepted for pip enhanced on both, thanks

and prison dates was 4 years in 2012 and 4 years in 2018, I was handing in fit since 2010 for mental health but I have a back condition that I declared in 2014 January but I was diagnosed with a prolapsed disc (the condition i reported in jan 2024) in 2022 but I didn’t report it until 2024

Unfortunately PIP has no bearing on the UC WCA process.

What should have happened is after reporting your health conditions, and handing in your first Fit Note, the WCA process should have started 29 days later.

LCWRA element has a waiting period of three full assessment periods, after the first Fit Note was handed in. No money is paid or subsequently owed for that period.

The start of the waiting period is dependant on Fit Notes being handed in continuously, no gaps none that were backdated etc.

If there were gaps this affects when the DWP start the waiting period.

In your case the DWP seem to have started your waiting period from January 2024 with the LCWRA being backdated to May 2024.

thank you! Yes it did start from may but in January 2024 I added a health condition, I didn’t change anything, from there being no gaps in my fit notes was jan 2022! Fit notes before Jan 2024 was for mental health but, my doctor changed the fit notes due to my back in 2024
