Child element ending

hi everyone,

Just wondered if any of you lovely people could advise me please ?

My son is due to turn 19 in the first week of June. He is currently in none advanced education enrolled on a two year course - due to end summer 2026.
However - after being on the course since September 2024 he has become quite disheartened with the course and isn’t sure yet if he wants to continue in September for the 2nd year.

My question is regards child element for UC. If my son decides at the end of the summer term, which will be aprox June 22nd that he doesn’t want to continue in September, would my child element stop June 22nd or does it run on to 31st August ?
My AP runs 17th -18th (not sure if that’s relevant?

I believe you would need to report the change as soon as he leaves education, and the child element will end and not be payable for your June to July Assessment Period.

As payment is based on circumstances on the last day of your AP, he will not be in education at that point.
