hi I was awarded lcwra on the 27th December 2024 and I wondered when I’d get more money and see a change on my uc account under payments. It’s been 3 months today as it’s now march 1st 2025 and nothing is showing up on my uc journal. Thanks kind regards Aaron

LCWRA has a waiting period of three full assessment periods, from the date the first Fit Note was handed in. No money is paid or subsequently owed for that period.

What date did you report the health condition?

What date was your first Fit Note?

Were there any gaps in handing in Fit Notes, any that were backdated etc?

(any gaps would affect your waiting period)

Do you claim with a partner who gets LCWRA, have Transitional Protection on your claim or receive Carers Element in your name?

Finally what is your UC assessment period date?

My health condition started two years ago after a serious operation on my bowel. They had refused me two or three times a health assessment and then they did a video call one on the 6th or the 7th of December and on the 27th of December they sent me a letter on my uc journal saying that I had limited capability for work and work related activitiy. A couple of times they said no more fit notes and the last time it had ran out because I was on my own and was ill at the time so I couldn’t get to the doctors because I live in an isolated village. I’m single with no partner and no protection on my claim no carers element either

Also my last fitnote was in December I think

sorry it says my last fit note was from 3rd November 2024 - 3rd January 2025! Thanks for the help also

My guess is due to gaps in Fit Notes, they would start your waiting period in November.

What is your Assessment Period or payment date please?

my payment date on uc is the 4th of every month if that’s what you mean. They health assessed me in December on the 7th and they approved me to having lcwra on the 27th December 2025

My estimate of your waiting period would be:

October/November: Not counted for waiting period.

November/December AP1

December/January: AP 2

January/February: AP3

February/March: Eligible for LCWRA element

March 4th: First LCWRA element paid.

If LCWRA element is missing from your latest statement, I'd add a note onto your Journal, asking when you are eligible for LCWRA element to be paid.

It all depends on when they start your waiting period and only they can answer that.
