I would like some advice please on my current situation. I receive enhanced rate both elements and have a motability car due to mental heath and ADHD. I have always worked part time but not since having the enhance motibility rate. I won’t to get some work part time , maybe 16 hours a week. I recently did a college course and was given a bus driver licence which took me 3 times longer than everyone else as I kept failing. But you get a garunteed interview for a job.
I understand you can work and claim pip, but my pip was awarded as I can’t follow mailer routes without someone helping me.

My question is if I work and do the same route as a home to school driver twice a week will this mean I am not able to receive my enhanced pip? I often get lost or disoriented when out of the house but if I do the same routes every day I could handle two mornings a week. Is pip based on every day or is it on your wort days like before? Because I have server anxiety and panic disorder on many days I do t leave the house and when I do I use my car so if this was taken away I feel i wouldn’t get out at all . I’m just feeling stuck in a corner as if they lower my motibility and take my car not only am financially worse off but I won’t be able to get around . But at the same time my depression is worse while not working.

can anyone advice me on what I can do here please

    Hi,

PIP is based on 50% of days. Not every day and not just your worst days.

However, I am surprised that you were awarded Enhanced Mobility from the information we have.

If you're unable to leave the house on more than half of days due to Overwhelming Psychological Distress then that's 10 points for Standard Mobility.

For Enhanced Mobility (without any physical disability) then you need to be able to go out on more than half of days, BUT always with another person, guide dog or orientation aid such as a white stick for visual impairment.

I think it would be difficult to keep the full 12 points as a bus driver, but this is probably a question for a specialist in PIP regulations if you can find one of those.

I have someone with me most times I leave the house so it’s more than 50% of the time .But obviously I want to be more independent and work I dont want to stay home all day being depressed. I used to get lower rate mobility for years but since then have got in a lot of trouble over the years with the law etc and have other mental health issues that mean I struggle to regulate my moods around people so I think that is why they awarded it I didn’t do the form the mental health team did. I do have problems with my back also but they have never have me points for that and as I got 12 points anyways I never argued it as seemed pointless. I will make sure to send all evidence of this in my next claim though.

I have tried finding the information I need but I can’t so that’s why I posted in here to see if anyone can help. I just don’t get if it’s to make you live an independent life why me doing a few hours work questions my ability to be disabled. I can’t do contracted work I can only do advocacy or flexible as I do t know wheat my mental state is day to day. It’s all just stressing me out tbh
