Moving from housing benefit (hb) to uc
Im currently on housing benefit but in the middle of moving to uc. My current hb is paid directly to the landlord. Does anyone here have their uc paid direct to landlord? Is it straight forward? And if not how do ppl give paying the landlord directly, does it tell you what period it is for extra?

Once you've applied for UC, you'll have access to your online UC account which is called the Journal.
You write a note on your Journal asking for rent to be paid directly to your Landlord.
Once a month you will receive a payment statement. It will detail the rent amount paid to your Landlord.

hi I was in the same boat as you, I asked the DWP to pay my housing association direct as I would only end up in arrears. I’ve always had it paid directly to them and would only get confused.
It was no problem just keep reminding them you want it paying direct, then you’ll get paperwork & on your online account it will say we pay your landlord such an amount every month
Take care
