You can write on your Journal that due to disability you are unable to travel to the appointment, and you are requesting a reasonable adjustment of X (your preferred alternative).

@scutter384 ,I’m sorry to hear you’re struggling with social anxiety. In addition to the great advice others have shared, I just wanted to offer some reassurance. I have health issues myself and asked my UC work coach via my journal to change my in-person commitments to phone appointments as a reasonable adjustment. They didn’t question it at all, and now all my meetings are over the phone.

You have every right to request this, so don’t hesitate to ask through your journal with confidence.

    Best wishes!

Hey @scutter384 and welcome to the community.

I can see you've got some top advice already. I also suffer from extreme social anxiety, especially with travel. I asked for my interview to be closer and they were good enough to accept that. So it's definitely work popping a quick question on your UC journal. After that one meeting, they saw how bad I was, so changed to phone meetings.

ok so I asked for meeting over phone or somewhere closer

    Response was

“We cannot conduct a first commitments appointment by the telephone, this will need to remain a face to face appointment”

When asked for a closer location

“Unfortunately we do not have any offices closer to your address, we can accommodate you with a private room when you arrive and discuss the possibility of video appointments for alternative appointments moving forward.”

    now I'm looking for a lift 🤷‍♂️
