Hi, my name is wull0474! Mother's DLA has stopped, is it because I claim carers allowance?

HHi I'm new here and just last month I had to migrate over to UC I have a question if some one could help. I claim carers allowance for my mother who has dementia. I noticed on my back slip to day that I think they have stopped her DLA can anyone tell me why ie is it because I claim carers or something like that ??

hi and welcome to the forum unfortunately I can't help you with benifits but what I can do is recommend that you visit the coffee lounge for a general chat or the games room for some fun and games

Hi,
Your Mothers DLA would not get stopped because you claim Carers Allowance.
If she was previously getting SDP (Severe Disability Premium) then that would be stopped if anyone starts claiming Carers Allowance for her.
As you are on UC, you may also be able to claim the Carers Element in addition to Carers Allowance.
However, you can only claim Carers Allowance while your Mother has a qualifying award of DLA. So if that has stopped, then your Carers Allowance is likely to stop as well.
Unfortunately you would probably need to contact the DWP directly to ask why your Mothers DLA has not been paid. There is no reason for that from the information you've provided on here.
