Hi, my name is aimee_woodhouse! Can anyone explain this letter, when will my claim be backdated to?

Can anyone explain to me what this letter means and which date it is being backdated to….
i received pip from 16/8/24 weeks ago didnt know my partner could apply for carers we did this on 3/4/25 and asked it to be be backdated to August 2024 ( not hopeful) received this letter today. ( attached).

Hi @aimee_woodhouse - & welcome to the community. Normally a 'change of circumstances' such as applying for the carer's element has to be reported before the end of the assessment period in which the change occurred.
Your partner had been eligible to claim this once you received the daily living component of PIP. However, they've decided that, altho you reported this later, that it can indeed be backdated to the 16 Aug 24 as you asked.

You dont know the time scales at present for back payments to be paid do you? He hasnt received any payment yet not even normal payment so not sure when this will start.Thanks again

Hi again - it could take a few weeks for UC to calculate the backpay owed & it's usually paid separately.
