i had y gallbladder out last October and now I feel I have bile acid malabsorption. I’m taking physillium husk capsules once a day because of daily and evening meds I have to take. I’m in the UK and would like to speak to people in the same situation as I am. It’s effected my mental health as well I have terrible anxiety over it and worrying about nutrition and absorbing my meds

Hi @Jayne56 - & welcome to the community. I wonder if you've had a conversation with your GP as to whether you do actually need to be careful with your diet as perhaps that would be an idea.

There's some info here which may also be helpful to read: https://www.nhs.uk/conditions/gallbladder-removal/

Hi @Jayne56 welcome. 🙂 I just wanted to reiterate what @Bluebell21 has suggested in contacting your GP. It might be worth seeing if they can offer some support with the anxiety you're feeling at the moment too.

I hope things improve for you. Please keep us updated (if you're happy to, of course).

    Best wishes,

Hi @Jayne56 , I was suspected of having BAM (not related to my gallbladder exactly; I have 5 bowel diagnoses) and was referred to the Nuclear Medicine dept for a SehCAT scan, I didn't have BAM. You have to attend twice, exactly 7 days apart, swallowing a capsule the first visit when it's then checked via computer.

Your GP could refer you, or your consultant gastroenterologist if you're still under the care of one.

There is a charity called Guts UK who have a helpline too, they were very helpful to me.

Wishing you all the very best, I understand the impact on our mental health, the impact on mine has been very tough. Take care.
