Once you fill in and submit the online form, you will have access to your online UC account known as the Journal.
You can write a Journal note requesting that your rent be paid directly to Landlord.
In England this can be done at any time.
In Scotland this can be done after your first payment.
Legacy benefits will end once you apply for UC, apart from one final payment two weeks later known as the run on payment. We advise on the forum you apply one day after an ESA payment. This helps to hopefully ensure the payment is for the full amount.
You will receive your first UC payment 3 weeks later (5 weeks after applying), then monthly thereafter.
