Mixed age couples benefit advice

Hi my Husband has just had his normal ESA payment today and as previously posted reaches retirement age on 11th May. I know Poppy said that his ESA should automatically stop on the day before which we think should be the 9th as his Birthday falls on a Sunday he then gets a small amount £65.79 State Pension on the 12th and then does not get his full state pension until 9th June £921.00. We have been in touch with UC and know what to do with them but have just tried to phone ESA to inform them but spent 1 hour 13 minutes on the phone and gave up we are going to write to them and send it registered post tomorrow and inform UC. He needs to budget for the period when he doesn't have any ESA payments. Do you you have any ideas if he will get the full 2 weeks ESA?
He would have been due his next ESA payment on 12th May. Is writing to them ok?

ESA is paid two weeks in arrears, so looking at the dates a full fortnightly payment probably won't happen.

That's what I thought too so it's possibly going to be a couple of days short
