Appointment dropped on me with less than 24 hours notice but I'm not well!

I've been stuck indoors for 2 days with what I suspect is food poisoning. Whatever it is,I've been too scared to leave the house,to put it bluntly! I decided to get my UC migration online done as it's due in by the 29th May. I duly completed it without too much difficulty, but was astounded to discover that within 10 minutes of submitting the claim,I received an email saying I had to attend an identification interview tomorrow (30th April) at 4 pm. Apart from the fact that I haven't gathered all the necessary documents together that I need to take with me,I really don't feel safe leaving the house to travel by bus for nearly half an hour, attend an interview and travel back again. I'm terrified that I will have 'an accident' to put it politely. I've messaged them in my online journal explaining why I cannot attend and asked them to reschedule but I'm worried that they won't see it in time,or they will see it but take the view that it's not a good enough reason, and I'll end up being penalised for missing an appointment. Has anyone else had something like this? And what was the outcome?

Morning @Spangles1963, some great advice from @sarah_lea12 if you are able to contact them by telephone it might help with getting it rescheduled before the meeting date.

Also, just thought I'd mention the possibility of having someone there for support if you're nervous about the meeting. Do you have a friend or family member would could help you attend the meeting and be there for support if you wanted it? If so, it might be worth mentioning you'd like to bring someone for support when you call today to reschedule.

    Best wishes,

Hello - apologies for not responding sooner,I couldn't get your message to open. Thank you for the advice,I managed to get it sorted. I put a message on my journal explaining I wasn't well and thankfully they responded at 9am the following morning, saying that they would phone me instead at 4 pm. A very nice gentleman phoned on the dot of 4 pm and I was able to get my ID verified over the phone by answering some security questions.

I got an interview dropped on me on a Friday morning and they ignored me saying I couldn't attend so it is still hanging over me over the weekend. I feel sick and am having non stop palpitations because of it. I can't even go out in the garden at the moment because of the neighbours but I am supposed to overcome all my problems so they can grill me about how I am spending money!!

I almost wish I hadn't won the tribunal and got the big back payment because it is too stressful dealing with UC about money. I would just drop my claim if it didn't mean having to reapply when my savings get used up on rent:(
