Hi, my name is ROOdRecords! Problems with my housing, any advice?

I was told when I moved in property that they had the .only to sort the kitchen out with new cupboards worktops etc... nothing got done in 13+ years.

Next issue is I asked for the gas supply to be capped as there was only a water boiler (failed gas check) which landlord didn't believe me when I told them and a gas fire .. after several years I found out that the landlord did not get British gas to cap the gas supply and did it themselves which was not the correct way and has left me with a standing charge which if they got British gas to cap it I would not have had this standing charge.. (over£1000). They have made many visits without 24 hours notice demanding access

( causing me stress , I have anjina and stress is dangerous for my health) and go into basement for between 10 to 20 minutes before coming back upstairs. I have fitted a complete bathroom suite and had complete central heating and boiler fitted, this is when I found out that they did the gas capping wrong causing me such high debt. What can I do to get compensated before the high court bailiffs come to evict me...

    Hi @ROOdRecords, welcome to the community. Sorry to hear you've had such a nightmare with your housing, that sounds really stressful.

    Is your property privately rented or is it from the council?

    You might like to look into whether the Housing Ombudsman could help:

    Housing Ombudsman Service

    If your gas was capped wrong, could you contact the company that did the work to see if they can compensate you?

    I'm sure our members might have some suggestions too. Hope you can get things sorted soon.
