Hi, my name is Besboosa123! Mum awarded DLA, but no backpay.

LETS TALK DISABILITY LIVING ALLOWANCE.
My Mum just got DLA awarded ( The middle rate at £70+) per week.
She called for a form to be sent out back in February this year.
They told us she would get backpaid from the date she called for the form.
She has NO back pay from the date she called for the form.
When will she receive the lump sum back pay?Does it take time tonprocess the backpay? We have medical bills owing!
Am I missing something.?
CARERS ALLOWANCE..
Age UK told me that it would be automatically awarded because it's the same application form as the DLA ( + the back pay)and it would be backdated and paid on top of her pension credit.
Never claimed ANYTHING in her life before,80+ yrs old
I'm overseas at present, can't call DWP , not sure Mum is getting muddled up without all?
Can anyone help me understand if this is all correct,
Or can I request someone to call her and explain why no backpay received....
THANK YOU

Hey there @Besboosa123 and welcome to the community. 😊
Backpay is usually paid separately from any benefits and can usually take a few weeks extra to get paid in, so I'd try not to panic too much right now.

Only children can make a claim for DLA, I believe she meant Attendance Allowance (low rate £73.10 or high rate £110.40).
As Albus advised backpay is calculated separately and this usually takes several weeks at least.
Carers Allowance is a separate benefit and is for the carer not the person being cared for.
