Building Society enquiry

Good morning, I hope everyone is well.
On the 15th I logged onto my bank account to check if my allowance had come in. I discovered that I had been paid £24, 212.25
Why is this? I claim ESA and PIP and I am aware that I can have up to £6, 000 in my savings and no more. Where has this money come from!
Please help, is it a premium payment?

What is next to the payment amount as a reference?
Only Income Related ESA is effected by how much money you have.
If you get CB ESA or New Style ESA that isn't effected same as PIP.

The refernce is DWP EESA. Should I be worried? I did get a phone call a few of days about being entitled to a premium. Any help would be great.

You can call them to be certain but it looks like it's the premium money you were expecting.
As it's over £5000 you need to establish if this money has been paid due to official error/error of law.
If it has then it's disregarded from your savings for the lifetime of your claim (including migration to UC).
If not then the money will be disregarded for one year.

I'm trying to contact the DWP to find out but can't get through!

It can take an hour or more to get an answer from ESA 😔
Someone did post recently that the ESA number kept cutting them off so they may be having technical issues.
If it is down to official error ask for a written letter as that will be needed for your migration to UC.

An hour! That's bad!

I've found out what the payment is for. It's seven years worth of back pay of Severe Disability Premium from 2018 - 2025.
