Hi, my name is Lynne5472! Is it better to claim UC asap or near the deadline for migration?

Hi. I have just received a migration letter from uc to change from esa. Is it better to claim ASAP or nearer the deadline date?

It's entirely up to you.
We do recommend claiming the day after an ESA payment, as this helps the run on payment to be for the full amount.

it might pay to migrate early if you move from ESA support as they pay more UC under LCWRA.
some wait longer to keep things as they are.0 -
Being better off on UC from ESA only applies if someone wasn't getting the Severe Disability Premium.

I'm not getting a severe disability premium.

You will be better off on UC then, £700 per month ESA compared to £823.41 for Standard Allowance +LCWRA on Universal Credit.
So in your case the sooner you claim, the better off you will be.

ESA doesn't even pay £700 per month but £647.
