Hi, my name is sheans! Will this affect my benefits?
I’m going to be getting about £40k, I’m on UC, LCWRA and pip, I struggle to get up and downstairs and wanted to know if I could use the money to get an extension with a bedroom and shower room? Would it affect my benefits, the alternative is to buy my dads house which has downstairs bedroom and toilet but I’d rather stay put
Many thanks

Hi @sheans, welcome to the community. Where is the money coming from if you don't mind me asking?
Large sums of money may mean that you'd no longer be eligible for Universal Credit, but you will still be able to claim PIP as normal no matter where the money has come from.
There are some exceptions to that rule though. For example, if your money has come from a benefits back payment, it can be disregarded for a certain amount of time.
