UC statement
Hi
My Universal Credit statement, due on 25th June, has been significantly delayed. I was ignored for a whole week despite calling every day, and only received a reply yesterday.
They told me the delay is because my Student Finance payment is still being worked out, so I understand I might not be entitled to anything. However, they still haven’t provided a clear timeframe.
Has anyone else experienced this? How long did it take for your statement to come through?

Have you been in receipt of student finance this year or is the a calculation for when you begin your studies soon?
If you haven’t yet been paid any student finance I am quite confused as to why you wouldn’t be entitled to your normal UC payment. The assessment period they work your entitlement out for is only four weeks so unless you have been getting extra money, I don’t understand why there is a delay. If you were going to uni in September, you should be allowed to get your normal UC until you get your first payment and then you might not be entitled to anything. I am starting uni in January and from what I was told (I claim LCWRA and UC) I could stay on benefits but the would be reduced depending on how often I get my student finance. They told me I might not be entitled to money in certain months I get my SF but during the summer months when I don’t receive anything for four months, I would be entitled to my normal amount, unless I was in paid work of course.
The whole system is soo confusing! I am currently trying to work out what I will get and how it will impact my benefits so what I have said above might not be true but this is what I was advised via Student Finance England 😩

Hi,
Yes, I’ve already received Student Finance this year. I got my student loan on 30th April and a bursary on 5th May,
So I completely understand that it might reduce or stop my UC, but I started the claim 6 weeks ago and was supposed to have had statement on 25th June to show me if I'm entitled to any money but I’ve had no updates or timeframe since I've started the claim I was only told yesterday that they’re still working it out.
It really is confusing — I’ve been trying to read up on it too, and every case seems slightly different. Good luck with your course starting in January! Hopefully they give you clearer info than they’ve given me 😩
