Petition to make mobility scooters and powered wheelchairs more affordable and accessible

Hi everyone, I hope it’s okay to share this here.
I’ve launched a UK Government petition calling for better access to mobility scooters and powered wheelchairs particularly for disabled and elderly people who are stuck at home due to cost and lack of support.
Far too many people are isolated simply because they can’t afford the equipment they need to live independently. This shouldn’t be happening in 2025.
The petition asks the Government to consider:
- Subsidies or grants to help with purchase or lease
- Longer-term, lower-cost lease schemes
- Giving people the option to choose a mobility scooter instead of a travel pass
This is about dignity, independence, and the freedom to just get out and live your life.
If you agree with this, I’d be really grateful if you’d sign and/or share the petition:

I’d also love to hear your thoughts or suggestions especially if you've had experience with these systems. Thank you so much for reading.

A good idea it also pays to shop around as most but not all mobility shops up the price before giving the vat relief hence making more profit
