HOW OFTEN IS UNIVERSAL CREDIT ON LCWRA RE ASSESSED?

I have just read somewhere someone said he is reassessed for Universal Credit every year, though he is not sure whether that means his savings are reassessed or his whole claim.

Can anyone else tell me how often they are reassessed for Universal Credit in the Support Group? I am not sure I could handle being reassessed every year!

Hi @axab43, at the moment, assessments aren't happening very quickly, but it can depend on your individual case how often you're set to be reassessed. Each case is different unfortunately, so it's difficult to say how often yours will be looked at. I hope some members will be able to share their experiences so you can get an idea, though.

As you say, it may be that this person is talking about bank reviews which are happening a bit more frequently than they used to. They also may have a condition that is likely to improve over time which might mean more frequent assessments. Or if they have reported a change of circumstances then that may have triggered a health reassessment. Each case can be quite different.

The DWP are still working through a backlog on assessments, so many people aren't being reassessed for long periods of time at the moment. Many people are waiting years, so hopefully you won't have to go through it again for a while.

Thank you so much, ROsie. I realise I asked a form of this question a few months ago but this was in response to the person I read saying they were assessed once a year and assumed all were. Especially for people with severe mental health issues, all this can be very triggering. Thank you for your calm and reasoned response, which really helped.
