Hi, my name is leighellen! Can I claim backdated disability premiums after migration to UC?

I recently migrated from ESA to UC, post migration I was awarded PIP backdated for 18 months. I'm delighted, however, I was advised that whilst on ESA I would have received a disabled premium and I am wondering if I can still claim that.

You would need to contact ESA about a retrospective claim for SDP.
Once that's been sorted out, UC should adjust your award to add Transitional Protection which matches your ESA award at the time of transfer.
Transitional Protection is added if your total UC award is lower than legacy benefits. This erodes over time as other elements go up or new elements are added. Effectively your payment is frozen until the usual non TP rates catch up with your award.
If your SDP backpay is over £5000, it will be disregarded from the calculation of your capital for UC.
If under £5k it will ve disregarded for one year.
