Migration end date is 2 August and Transitional protection ends 2 September

The deadline for submitting my Universal Credit migration application is 2 August. I was informed by DWP that if I do not submit my application by that date, I would still have until 2 September to apply without losing my transitional protection.
Could someone please confirm this please? I’m feeling very anxious and want to make sure I fully understand my position and do not risk losing my transitional protection.
I was assigned to the complex needs team because I cannot meet the deadline.
