Hi

I’m about to receive my work pension . I was finished work due to disability. My partner and I have a joint claim he gets LCWRA . I will be back payed from the pension . The uc is £600.00 more than I will get from my pension and I will receive a lump sum over the £6000 . Do I have to stop the claim or do I go and see the work coach I’m a bit confused on what to do . Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

UC only stops if your capital goes over £16k.

You need to report any capital over 6k, and you may be asked to attend the Job Centre in person with paper bank statements.

£4.35 of your UC award will be deducted for every £250 or part of thereof for capital over £6k.

Any pension income (aside from the lump sum) is deducted in full from your UC award £ for £ each month.

Will you be receiving backdated arrears of your work pension? If so I think an overpayment may have occurred as UC will take the back payment into account over the period it is paid for. Therefore they will revise and reduce the UC entitlement back to when the pension entitlement began.

As @Kimi87 says you may wish to seek advice from a trained benefits advisor.
