DLA renewal times
Hi
I returned my daughters DLA renewal back at the start of May within 2 weeks of getting the form. It expires 24th September and I've still not heard anything. I rang on 11th August and they said its 'with someone ' for a decision and was on track to be processed before my current award ends. But said call them back if its not! I rely heavily on it and I'm starting to get worried. Last time it was renewed really fast, is it just that they are backlogged? Or should I be worried, as no one else seems to be reporting such a long wait. It's 4 months now. What happens if it's not dealt with before expiry? I know it gets backdated but that won't help us in the meantime. How long are they allowed to take over it? Could it be months we go without it for? I'm starting to get really panicked, any advice would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you

Backlogs for all benefits are huge, you should hopefully get a decision before the current award expires. Phone DLA a week before your current award is due to end, this should ‘expedite’ the decision, they won’t do that now though unfortunately. Please try not to worry too much.

Thanks for responding and for the advice. I'll try to put it to the back of my mind for now. Thanks again.
