LCWRA and trying work?

I'm on LCWRA and want to try applying for a temporary Christmas job that is maximum 20 hours a week and totally remote from my home. I've been out of work for a decade so I'm not sure of my chances, but I wanted to try.

I'm afraid it might trigger a reassessment though and with everything that is going on with the government and DWP now, I'm worried they'll just take my UC away for even trying and say 'well, you're clearly fit enough', despite none of it contradicting why I have LCWRA in the first place.

I'm just concerned I'll set in motion my own downfall. I know the chances of getting the job are already small and it might turn out I wouldn't be able to cope with it anyway, but should I just not bother trying at all? :(

Why would it trigger a reassessment? Its limited capability for work not no work

Because it would be a temporary Christmas position, as well as the current legislation happening with the government and DWP, I'm worried that will trigger them to reassess me and they'll be harsh.

Ok, well up to you. I get LCWRA and have been working for a year. Nothing gets triggered

I understand what you're saying. My concern is that this is a temporary position. I'm also unsure if I'll be able to work at all but won't know without trying. So either way I'll likely be going back to not working after the position ended, and that is the point at which I'm worried about it triggering the reassessment.

And as I said, with all the DWP stuff, my concern is heightened.

I am in LCWRA group and work. When I completed my permitted work form I wrote on there what my job is like and the adjustments I have (can't remember if I also sent my job description). It was approved quite quickly.

I also heard there is something called a 'linked claim' e.g. if someone tried work and became ineligible for ESA, but then found they couldn't manage, it may be possible to 'link the claim' back to the previous one (and avoid going through the assessment phase again). I don't know the finer details of this though, as I have never managed to work anywhere near enough hours to trigger it.

You don't have permitted work with LCWRA, are you sure you aren't thinking of ESA where you do need to apply for permitted work?

For someone with an LCWRA award, there are no limits on the hours or type of work you can do, nor is there a need to be in the "Permitted Work scheme" as there is for ESA or Income Support. Your work commitments are reduced or eliminated with an LCWRA award depending on the hours you work each week and you will automatically receive a Work Allowance that allows you to earn money without immediate deductions to your Universal Credit. However, you must declare any paid work you do on your online account. 

Basically your LCWRA is safe, unless the DWP can show the reason you get LCWRA conflicts with the work you're doing and your benefits will reduce the more money you make working.
