UC Payment's

Hello All

Just wondering if someone could explain this Payment's from UC as I have just been moved to UC from income related ESA as the DWP say that is ending but that makes me laugh as I was told the same thing when I was moved from incapacity benefit to esa and that's over 13 years ago and incapacity benefit is still going my problem is how can you get paid the same amount for 30 day's and 31 day's as I have it split into two Payment's as I can't work it out as one is UC for 30 day's and now the UC is for 31 day's but the same amount

Each UC payment is based on your circumstances for the previous calender month, known as the Assessment Period. The AP is always 30 days.

My Assessment Period is always for the 26th-25th of each month.

Because you have split payments the payment date of the second payment will vary sometimes.

But it as not the amount is the same as my first two payments as my next payment is 17 day's from my last then 14 day's and my first two payments where 14 day's and 14 day's

As advised whether you are paid once a month or twice a month, each actual payment is based on your previous Assessment Period which is always 30 days.

My last few assessment periods:

26th June - 25th July

26th July- 25th August

26th August - 25th September.

I am paid once a month on the 2nd.

Even if I was paid a second amount 14-17 days later my total payment would add up to the same each and every month.

UC has a different payment cycle to legacy benefits and this does take some getting used to.

Yes but the first was over 30 day's for my Payment's and this new second statement is 31 day's but it's the same amount how can 30 day's of payments be the same as 31 amount where as the day difference gone

When UC is paid twice a month the second payment date will sometimes vary. This is normal.

Both your first & second payment were based on your entitlement for the previous Assessment Period which is a fixed 30 day period.

Using my own Assessment Period and presuming I was getting twice monthly payment:

AP July 26th to August 25th.

Payment for above AP 2nd & 16th September.

AP August 26th- September 25th.

Payment for above AP 2nd October & 18th October.

There is no missing days payment, because the payment is always based on the previous Assessment Period which is a fixed 30 days.

I believe there is a slight difference in the payment cycle from the first AP to the second AP. After the second AP it should be the same. I still don't believe there is a missing day personally, you are free of course to disagree.

All I'm saying i have counted the day's on the first statement and the second statement and one is 30 and the second is 31 day's as my payments where wed and then wed my is next sat and the 14 day's later on sat

Universal Credit assessment periods are monthly but the number of days in each period can vary depending on the calendar. It may be that some Assessment Periods are 30 days long and others are 31 days but this doesn't affect the amount that you get. It would be too complicated for the system to constantly adjust payments to take this into account.
