I am struggling with high anxiety at the moment due to managing my sons UC migration process as his appointee, can anyone help me? As his appointee I have always had his benefits paid into an account in my name that until recently I used as my account too. Since starting this process I have separated our finances with my money going into a separate account and his staying in the original account and still in my name. I genuinely believed i have been doing the correct thing all this time and have always used his benefits solely for him, i have more than enough money for myself and have bank statements to show this. At the upcoming interview how will the dwp react to this?

Also to further complicate things my money has taken over the £6000 balance .

    Heya @westcountry and welcome.

Please try not to worry too much, the bank statements will show how things have been set up and you can just explain it to them, it should be ok.

If the account has gone over £6k then you may need to pay some of the benefits back. For every £250 (or part of £250) you have between £6,000 and £16,000, the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) will deduct £4.35 from your monthly UC payment.
