Waiting time
Hi my partner and I are going submit our claim online for UC in the next few days , What happens after we have done that ive heard that we wont hear anything for weeks is that the case please I want to get it done and dusted has it causing me anguish and my anxiety levels are of the scale. I'm migrating from ESA and I'm also in the support group .thanks

It depends whether you can verify your ID online or not. If you can’t they will set up an appointment to do this (you can request this to be a biographical phone call or home visit if necessary). Mine was about 10 days after I submitted my claim. It does go very quiet and you can’t see what they’re working on behind the scenes so that is scary. You will get letters from old benefits (ESA, housing benefit) as they end. My housing benefit letter made no sense until I could finally see my 1st UC payment but they had got everything right. It is a really worrying time and you tend to only hear the ‘bad’ stories but my migration went ok and everyone I spoke to was lovely

Yes, the citizen advice help to claim phone line is good. The number will be on your migration letter. They also have a webchat service if you don’t like phones.
