Parasocial relationships
has anyone else had parasocial relationships? Is it very common for people with learning disabilities and loneliness to gain parasocial relationships easily? I’ve been very careful with how I watch YouTubers or anyone as I do not want to get parasocial towards them.

Hi @ryleyyg, I've got a friend with a learning disability and she struggles with parasocial relationships. She's still working on it at the moment with the help of her family, but it can be quite hard for other people to understand.
Is there anything you've found helps you when you find you're becoming parasocial with people?

I usually leave immediately and back out because I don’t want things getting weird etc. it’s very easy for me to get attached to someone online, but I was just wondering if it’s common for people like us

Out of curiosity, what are the negatives that you experience from it?

What are parasocial relationships? I looked it up, and AI says it's a one-sided relationship with an unknown celebrity (paraphrasing). True?
