COVID Vaccine
Hi everyone,
I was diagnosed this year with ASD/Autism and was told that I would be eligible for a COVID vaccine. My husband booked an appointment for me but I was told that I am not eligible after all as the criteria has changed.
Has anyone else had this problem?
Thank you.

Many who qualified last year no longer qualify after the criteria changed significantly in line with up to date advice from the JCVI.
This is the current eligibility:
Some places such as Boots offer it on a private basis.

Yes that was what I was told. I would have it done privately as my sister passed away recently due to a Covid related complication and I know that I could not cope in hospital on my own. It’s embarrassing to admit, but I really don’t have the money to self fund a vaccine.

I'm so sorry about your sister @Ember74 ❤️
I think the jabs privately are about £100 which is a lot of money 😔

Thank you, it was very sudden and a huge shock.
Yes the private jabs are expensive and certainly not affordable to many of us who would have extra needs if we were affected by serious illness. I find it unbelievable that some of the most vulnerable will go unvaccinated at a time when the NHS would be overwhelmed if there was a serious outbreak. I’m sure I’m not the only one to feel this way too.

I was shocked reading through to see carers have been removed too, even those who care for a clinically vulnerable person!
i don't know if they do but is it worth contacting some pharmacies to see if any offer concessions for disabled or vulnerable people or those on a low income?
