Motability Advanced Payments
Hi all,
New here and hoping for some advice please ☺️
I have a motability vehicle at the moment that no longer fits my needs due to decline in my health.
I need something larger which of course comes with a hefty advanced payment and unfortunately I'm not in the position to lay out this kind of money.
I was advised by the motability grant charity to first come out of my current lease, then apply for a grant which I did.
I have been denied the grant as they feel my needs do not meet the criteria for the vehicle I need.
I can’t get a loan as my credit score is extremely low due to my mental health and my inability to handle money well over the years, so that option is out.
Also can’t get finance privately.
I spoke briefly with my dealer today and he has said about spreading the advanced payment over time so that I can get the vehicle I need, however from what he has said it would be done either in January next year for when my car renewal is due in March, or we can look to do it now so that I can get the vehicle I need sooner.
Which means I’d be paying the advanced payment while I had the new car?
However I’m confused as the motability website says it must be paid in full by the day of collection and can’t be spread over time once I have the vehicle.
I am going back to speak to the dealer later again to clarify but wondered if anyone had advice on this or has experience.
Also if I can’t spread the payments with the dealer, where do I go next?!
Thankyou!
