Hi, my name is Iain62! Am I entitled to any other benefits?
I recently inherited a 50% share of my late mother’s home. I was on Universal Credit (limited capability for work) I also get Adult Disability Payment. My Universal Credit was stopped after I inherited the house. The house is on the market but yet to sell. I get just over £500 a month ADP and nothing else. This barely covers my rent and I now have a council tax bill on top of all other living costs. Is there anything else I am entitled too?

In Scotland PIP is now called Adult Disability Payment, which I get. I get nothing else and am beginning to struggle. I probably could manage some light work but nothing doing at the moment in my area.

Hi @Iain62, welcome to the community. Sorry to hear you lost your mum and how difficult things have been since.
It might be worth speaking to a benefits adviser to see what you might be entitled to claim. There is some advice on where to get help with benefits on the mygov website here that might be worth a go: or you could try searching on the Turn2Us Advice Finder:
Is anyone living in the property at the moment? Some councils offer discounts on council tax if the property is vacant.

In addition to Rosie's suggestion, could you live in the property yourself until it sells? The property you live in is not considered as capital for UC purposes.
