Some days feel okay, and then suddenly everything feels heavy again
There are days where I feel like I’m finally getting a handle on things. My thoughts feel clearer, I’m more productive, and everything seems manageable.
But then, without any clear reason, the next day feels completely different. The same tasks feel overwhelming, and there’s this heaviness that’s hard to explain.
It’s frustrating because it makes progress feel inconsistent. You start to question whether you’re actually improving or just going through temporary phases.
I’ve been trying to understand if this is a normal part of dealing with anxiety or depression.
Do others experience this kind of emotional inconsistency? If you do, how do you stay motivated when your mental state keeps shifting like this?

When tasks feel overwhelming does this usually happen when feeling depressed or anxious? And when you're more productive and things feel manageable are you feeling not depressed or not anxious?
If your answer is yes to these then it's probably depression and/or anxiety that makes things feel overwhelming where you're less productive.
For me no matter how I'm feeling I find it almost impossible to be productive and even a small chore like brushing teeth can feel overwhelming, so I usually don't get much stuff done at all, I'm guessing it must be because I have severe combined ADHD. On the very rare occasion like maybe every 6 months I will feel this burst of energy and will manage to get a lot of stuff done throughout the day and it will feel really easy, as though I've taken something, what causes this I don't know.

I'm not sure this will help, because I'm someone who perceives the world through analysis, and negative emotions can't withstand my analysis for long. Try breaking down your emotions into small details and understanding why they come. When my mind understands that they shouldn't be there, they disappear.
