How was your experience using a secure proof of disability card for discounts?

Been thinking about getting one of those secure proof of disability cards for discounts, but I keep hearing mixed stuff. Some folks say it makes things smoother, others say staff give them weird looks or act confused. I’m kinda tired of carrying piles of paperwork everywhere, and I’d love something simple that doesn’t make me feel like I’m jumping through hoops just to get a small break. If you’ve actually used one, how did it go? Did places accept it without hassle? Any awkward moments I should be ready for? I’m hoping it’ll make life easier, not more stressful.

I use a DID photo card, have done for over 4 years now and it's been accepted everywhere where I've shown it.

I've used it for cheaper entry at museums and zoos and other places.

I’ve had mixed results with mine. Some places accepted it without question and gave the discount, but others didn’t recognise it at all, so I still carry other proof just in case.

I have CEA card which allows me to bring a carer to the cinema, I've presented it in person when buying tickets about twice if I have forgot to book online and have had no problems with this so far @QuietOrbit 😊

Yeah I've had one of those for years Mary, £5 a year and it saves an absolute fortune! Although back when I used to go to Cineworld they were often a bit funny about accepting it.

I ended up getting disability documentation for ID because it saved me having to explain things over and over, and it’s been handy for places that offer concessions. The online process was quick and the card turned up fast. For me, it’s just made days out and general admin a bit smoother, especially since it’s valid for a couple of years and easy for staff to recognise.
