Carer looking at going self employed

Hello
I am a single parent and receiving carers allowance for my son, I am looking at going self employed to sell a couple of books I have written.
Am I right in saying that the minimum income floor will not apply to me as I have caring duties? I will only be working a couple hours a week and the income will vary each month?
I understand my allowance of £427 a month however UC have told me until I register they cannot confirm whether the MIF will apply which makes no sense as they have access to my file and can see im a carer.
Any help would be appreciated
regards
Darren
