Epilepsy - Recently diagnosed with type 1 diabetes

My sister already suffers with epilepsy and has recently spent 3 days in hospital where she was newly diagnosed with diabetes type 1. She lives alone with her 3 year old child and recently had a seizure whilst out shopping alone and another whilst her son was at home (we've brought him a mobile and are teaching him how to call for help if mummy gets poorly when he's there)
My question is what other aids are there available (maybe to alert one of us she's unwell) and how do we as a family access these services
