I am/was a professional photographer and have been for over 30 years but I became ill 12 months ago and have been diagnosed with PPMS. I can/could still do a small amount of simple photography work which I want to do. I have for months been trying to get a work capability assessment from the DWP but withy no luck (no one available I am repeatedly told!) despite now being assessed as disabled for PIP I really need some one to one advice me regarding trying to run a small very much part time business (less than 16 hours a week) regarding yearly income and expenditure such as business insurance and other annual costs.

    Hi @Simondo9,

Hopefully one of the employment advisors will be able to offer you some advice on this. In the meantime, here's some information on Tax Credits from Disability Rights Uk which you might find useful in terms of getting to grips with costs/thresholds.

Thats great thanks many thanks who are the employment advisors you mention? I have been to the DWP in person on more than one occasion and spoken to them on the phone a few times now explaining my situation but they just trot out its 16hrs or £120 a week whichever comes first and can not offer further assistance

    Hi @Simondo9

At Supporttowork we offer support with a variety of employability skills, but as we are not self-employment experts, could I suggest that you call Scopes Helpline on
0808 800 3333 so that they can advise you further.

Thanks for your query & I hope you will get your business up and running!
