Extention time for PIP forms?

Got to ring tomorrow to confirm I will change over to pip .. from dla and esa ..
i don’t manage very well speaking over the phone .. and I know I will need to ask for extension time to complete the form .. when the form arrives can I email and ask for extension 2 week period.. or does it have to be phone call again...
