Missing ESA payments

Been on income based ESA for awhile, my last payment went in on the 4th July. I only noticed 2 weeks ago so rang them and was told my next payment would be the following Wednesday.
Wednesday came and nothing, rang them again last week and was told next Wednesday and because they now owe me over a month's worth it has to go someone higher up to release the money.
Today (so far) nothing has gone in, haven't received any letters from them or phone calls.
Has this happened to anyone else?
Going to have to borrow money off family if it takes any longer.
Thanks.
