Hi all,
I’ve just joined Scope as a young person with CP as I really like the environment here. I’m really interested/passionate about the equal education of children/young people with disabilities and education about disabilities in schools etc. I am also keen to look at mental health of those with disabilities as I think it’s so important yet barely spoken of.
Really looking forward to this!

Hi @laurenhunter
Great to meet you!
Equal education for people with disabilities is also one of my passions. I used to work in the admissions team for the University of Warwick and saw first-hand a lot of the difficulties faced by prospective students and the worries faced by their families. Warwick was one of the more progressive institutions!
I am also interested in the mental well being of disabled people, particularly those with CP. I posted an interesting piece of research: Risk of depression and anxiety in people with CP

Hi @laurenhunter, welcome to the community!
This is also something I am passionate about with a background in advocating for parents and supporting them to get the right support in place for their children with ALN in their school and getting theirs and their child's voice heard. It's interesting as the legislation for ALN in education in England and Wales is different but since starting in Scope I can see lots of similarities with issues faced in both countries.
