    Hi @jakewoolley

Welcome it’s great to meet you this afternoon.

I am one of the Community Champion’s here at Scope.

Can you please let me know if you high rate pip????

If so you can apply for “Motability” who will adapt a car for your needs.

Please please let me know if you haven’t got this Benefit.

I will see what we need to do then for you????

Hi @jakewoolley Welcome to the community great to have you on board, As @steve51 has indicated you can join the motability scheme if you have been awarded higher rate mobility through PIP.

This allows you to purchase a car also adapted cars which you pay for out of your PIP money. Other than that I am not aware of any charities that would help towards this

Hi @jakewoolley - Welcome to the community, & thank you for joining. I hope the info given above may be helpful if you have the enhanced rate for the mobility component of PIP. :)

Unfortunately you will not be entitled to the scheme . This doesn't mean you cant get adaptions to car but you will need to fund this

Hi @jakewoolley and welcome to the community! Here is some information about where you can get support from if you don't qualify for Motability.

    Driving lessons

If you are a Motability customer, the charity may pay for up to 40 hours of driving lessons.

    Learning to drive (Motability)

If you’re not a Motability member, there is help available from:

    Disability driving instructors

Help with the cost of driving lessons (Driving Mobility)

    Adapting your car

Driving Mobility can assess what kind of adaptations you might need. There are 17 regional driving assessment centres across the UK. As well as adaptations, they will also assess your ability to drive.

Ask them to advise you on who can fit your adaptation. You should always get at least 2 quotes on how much it will cost.

Get the VAT (Value Added Tax) back on an adapted car (GOV.UK)

Please do let us know how you get on. :)
