Hi @SallyDavis - & welcome to the community, Sally. It's lovely that you have taken on caring for your cousin. Is it OK to ask what their problems are? Perhaps then you might get applicable advice. :)

My cousin was starved of oxygen at birth so she is very physically and mentally disabled

Well to be honest ear muffs would be good as my cousin is constantly grinding her teeth

Yes I had the same problem with grinding my teeth after my Stroke but I was never asked to get any ear muffs.

I had to have a rubber mould made to wear at nighttime to stop the grinding.

Hi again @SallyDavis -  thank you very much for replying, tho I'm sorry to read how profoundly your cousin is affected. There's some info here on Scope that may be helpful.
Within that link you will also find a link to 'carersUK' (https://www.carersuk.org/) which may prove helpful, as you also need support in helping your cousin, Sally.
It certainly is a lot to take onboard at once; she's grieving her Mum, & this is all new to you, so hope some of this info will help.
Please do ask any questions about any difficulties you're facing, (I see Steve has already advised), & anything else you need to know. Please let us know how you're getting on, & chat here any time. :)

Hi @SallyDavis, just wanted to reach out and see if there is anything else we can do to help.

Can I just clarify, was it a needs assessment which your cousin had? You also would be entitled to a carers assessment if you would be supporting her.

I imagine this is a big change for you both and cannot be easy. I hope the community can support you both. :)
