Hi, I phoned DWP today to ask about my recent ESA Assessment and was told they haven't received it yet as it was being audited.  Can anyone tell me what this means?  Is it DWP who does the audit or the assessment company?  Thank you

It will, I think, be an internal assessment provider audit. Random assessments are audited as part of their quality control processes.
Information I post is for England unless otherwise stated. Rules may be different in other parts of UK.

My mums got an internal audit.

The assessors name and the auditors name were both on the report.

Took about 2 weeks for DWP to get the report after the assessment.
