I've been trying to get my 108 pounds back ,that they took in April off my universal credit (and it wasn't supposed to have been an error). After being passed from pilliar to post for weeks and my case manager saying they didn't have it.. call these other 2 places(even tho I knew they didn't have my money )
. So I put a complaint on the gov.uk website as I was sick and tired of it (a week or so ago). Looked at my bank account today and a credit of 182 is going in tomorrow. (Which is obvisally alot more than 108... Ive read up on the complaints and it said you could request for compensation for the inconvenience and upset it caused but I never asked or requested that.I just wanted the money I was owed back and didn't think about that.
Has anyone ever received the compensation without requesting it, as I phoned universal credit and they said they cannot see anything to do with the 182 (and it says my national insurance and universal credit and that payment) it's been bugging me all day wondering if it's that or not. It also states on the site that they will talk me through each step when putting a complaint in before making a descion ( but I know sometimes things don't always go to plan )

@erin2490, Hello and welcome, the money that is being placed in your bank account most likely is the £108 they owe you and the extra £74 is for the inconvenience ect. Just to be sure you can phone the DWP on Monday and ask what the payment of £182 is made up of.1

Sorry literally only just seen this thanks for replying. They couldn't see a breakdown of the money so still none the wiser but I'm guessing that's right x0
