Linkage Colleges Lincolnshire

Hello everybody
Has anyone had any dealings with The Linkage Colleges, Lincolnshre in a way of a visit or the admissions process? I have checked the site and requested a introduction form and call this week, my son really wants to go, he would need residential due to the issues he has and his mental health condition. He is 16 and ASD ADHD with behaviour, social and emotional and high anxiety but has shown an interest in the Linkage collages via a download prospectus. He has an EHC and currently nothing lined up for Sept. I would be interested in if the Local County council SEND team would potentially fund this for him. I have not the money myself and this would be essential in his chances of attending. It would be his nearest specialist college with residential stays. I have a feeling he will be heartbroken if they say no and I cant give him any answers right now. Thanks very much.

Hello @albert2014 - & welcome to the community. I haven't had any dealings with this college, but I have been trying to look through their info & links. Firstly, I hope you get the opportunity to ask the college themselves about funding, especially about him being residential. Then, in no particular order of importance, this may be of interest: https://www.linkage.org.uk/upload/Choosing-a-College-2.pdf so your son &/or yourself can name the college of his choice in his EHCP & it can be a specialist college, but note the last para about funding; then if your questions remain unanswered, try Ipsea who may be able to further advise. Please see: https://www.ipsea.org.uk/Hope you can get something sorted for your son, Marty, & kindly let us know how you get on, thank you. Hopefully others may know more.

Hi, So far the LCC have been pretty unhelpful. They sent me an email yesterday saying that his named college on his last yearly review could not be changed without the existing named college speaking and advising us that his needs have changed so much as they can not accommodate him. They would then require another review before being able to help with other provisions. Also that they do not help with Residential relating to this I would need social care. We have been messed around since day one, stemming all the way back to applying for an EHC way back in 2007. I am so burned out with all the admin work, my son takes so much to care for in the day without that being on top of me. Anybody have any ideas?
Thanks Marty0 -
Hi @albert2014 - would then suggest you contact IPSEA (Independent Provider of Special Education Advice) as per the link above: https://www.ipsea.org.uk/
