Hi all I have an 11 year old daughter recently diagnosed autistic after years of fighting she currently receives dla and awaiting a renewal in the next few weeks my question is are people that claim carers allowance if there children get dla middle or high rate any better off if there claiming universal credit as well or has it made finances worse ? Thank you

They are neither better nor worse off if they claim Carer’s Allowance while on UC. They are entitled to the carer element of UC regardless of whether or not they claim CA (unless the carer already gets LCWRA). The CA is deducted in full from the UC, the total money received is the same either way.0
