My employers are pushing me to retire. If I resign, will I lose my ESA? Would I have to tell DWP?

I am currently on long term sick with Ra and oesteoporsis. I have been off work 14months as my condition isn't under control .on top of the pain stiffness and extreme fatigue the  medication makes me feel poorly as well.
My employers are pushing me to retire and i am recieving e s a and in the support group.
If i resign would it effect my e s a and do i have to let the dwp know i have resigned even though they don't expect me to work?
I am prepared to leave as i just can't see me going back to the retail environment as it is quite physically demanding in any role.
Some advice please would be a great help. Thanks

You are already claiming ESA in the Support Group so resigning from your job will not affect your ESA in anyway. Although before quiting you really should get some advice from ACAS, especially if you've worked there for quite sometime. https://www.acas.org.uk/

No. You are not expected to be in work on ESA so resigning has no impact.

Just let them know you are no longer working.
