Hi guys question for you,I became disabled 6 years ago, 1 year ago I sold my 2 story house and a friend helped me buy a bungalow, I couldn’t afford to buy on my own as bungalows command a premium, I didn’t want a council bungalow, i owned my own home for 20 years and didn’t want my disability to also take that from me so my Friend of 15 years said he would go in with me on it , I agreed to pay the mortgage as I was only going to be living in the house and we agreed if any maintenance needed doing we would go halves as In the future if we sold he would get 50% profit , wind the clock on just over a year and he’s split from his wife and was asking if he could move into the bungalow, he says it won’t be a permanent thing but until he gets back on his feet, it would only be a Monday night till Friday thing he will be away at weekends , how would this effect my benefits , I get income related esa, high rate pip , severe disability premium , I’m stressing over the idea of it all , he helped me out and I feel obliged to help him 😞

It will not affect your PIP.
Are you legally joint owners? If so his presence will not affect your ESA SDP either because he is not a close relative and does not count as a non dependant.
You will lose the single person on your Council Tax and your Council Tax Reduction will be reduced as he will be expected to make a contribution.0 -
Oh if you do lose the single person reduction on your council tax, you may be eligible for council tax support (I live with my partner who is also my carer and we have reduced council tax bills)0
