Can I ask if you can claim Carers allowance at the same time as ESA

Carer’s Allowance and contribution based or new style ESA are known as overlapping benefits and cannot be paid at the same time.
They can both be claimed at the same time but only the ESA will be paid. There will be an underlying entitlement to CA which might increase entitlement to a means tested benefit such as Council Tax Reduction.
Someone on the old income based ESA could receive Carer’s Allowance at the same time but the CA would be deducted from the ESA.0 -
